Austin Mullinix Obituary

Austin Haffner Mullinix, 97 of Ijamsville (formerly of Damascus) passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 29, 2025.

Born October 30, 1927 in Damascus he was the son of the late Ethel (Duvall) and Roland Mullinix.

Austin was a proud past member and past President of the Damascus Vol Fire Department. He had a love of the fire department his entire life.

He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a medic.

Austin spent most of his career as a plumber. After retirement from plumbing he was employed by Weis Markets in Mt. Airy and Frederick.

He is predeceased by his wife Mary Jane who died in 2015 and a sister Audree Brandenburg who died in 2012.

Austin is survived by his daughter Deborah Anderson, son-in-law Kenneth Anderson, grandson Jason Anderson and his wife Dora, and great granddaughters Charlotte and Isabella Anderson.

He is also survived by sister-in-laws, Rose Mary Linthicum, June Mann, and Marilyn Pilson and her husband Frank.

There will be a graveside service on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Pine Grove Cemetery, 737 S. Main St., Mt. Airy, MD. Austin Mullinix

Debbie and family, my condolences. Austin was my plumbing mentor and like a second dad to me. Fond memories of the siren and all the men on Mount Vernon Ave. speeding to the firehouse. God bless his soul.
