With profound sadness, we share that Ava Dawn Hadfield passed away suddenly on Friday, August 8, 2025, at just 15 years old. For 12 years, Ava faced cancer with courage, grace, and an unshakable spirit that inspired all who knew her.
Born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Ava then moved to Sherwood Park, Alberta, before settling in Langdon, Alberta, in 2021. Ava had a wild sense of humour with the ability to bring smiles and laughter to whomever she was with. Despite cancer, Ava faced every challenge with unwavering resilience and tenacity, never once uttering a complaint. Ava was a strong ambassador for childhood Cancer participating in countless fundraisers, programs and activities to assist other families and children. She had a love for all animals including sloths, her fur babies Chloe and Danny.
Ava will be dearly missed by her loving parents, Jason and Mandy Hadfield; devoted brother, Grady Hadfield; grandparents, Wally and Charmaine Hadfield; aunts and uncles, Tanya (Devin), Corianne (Drew), Mandi, James (Mabeth); cousins, Carter, Dexter, Hyrum, Alick, Everett, and Taegan; and many great-grandparents, great-aunts and great-uncles, extended family, friends, and classmates. She was predeceased by her grandfather, David Norton; grandmother, Tracey Norton; and uncle, Kirk Lightfoot.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Lyle McGonigle and the many doctors, specialists, and medical teams who supported Ava throughout her life-long medical journey.
A Funeral Service will be held for Ava at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints - California Blvd Chapel (7017 California Boulevard NE, Calgary) on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. A Public Visitation will take place prior to the service starting at 11:00 a.m.
