Ava McGill

Ava Ann McGill, 91, of Flora, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on November 5, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi. She was born October 9, 1932, in Middlefork, to Glen and Blanche (Thompson) Catron. She married Howard R. McGill on September 25, 1953, in Geetingsville, and they were married nearly 70 years; he preceded her in death on August 3, 2023. She and Howard had lived in Flora for the past 56 years.
Ava was a 1950 graduate of Rossville High School. She had worked for 30 years for Carroll Consolidated Schools. Ava was a member of the Flora Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Psi Iota Xi philanthropic sorority. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, yard work, and especially loved to work in her flower gardens.
Surviving Ava are her children, Craig (Kris) McGill of Monticello, Eric (Deb) McGill of Wyoming, MI, Brian (Teresa) McGill of Flora, Bret McGill of South Bend, and Julie (Steve) Harvey of Union, KY; sister, Marjorie Jackson of Lafayette; grandchildren, Lesli, Aaron, Kinzie, Atalie, Quinn, Ben, Jessica, Nolan, Molly, and Mandy; and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ava was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Julia Milner; and a granddaughter, Carli McGill.
Following Ava's wishes, a private family burial will be held at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Day & Genda Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made in Ava's name to Flora Presbyterian Church, 211 S Center St, Flora, IN 46929.
