Ava Rae Schmidt, 14, Suamico, passed away unexpectedly on December 21, 2022, after a short series of infections. Born on February 16, 2008, in Green Bay, she is the daughter of Michael and Katerina (Sivas) Schmidt. Ava was currently a freshman at Bay Port, where she was a hardworking straight-A student and was involved in DECA. She had a passion for dance, and her dance family at Forever Dance Studio played a big part of her life. Ava will forever be known for having a huge heart, and this was displayed in the love that she shared with others while babysitting and caring for pets. Her hobbies included shopping, painting, and spending time with her family, especially her grandparents, cousins, and sister. Ava was the best big sister ever.

Ava is survived by her parents, Michael and Katerina, Suamico; one loving sister, Gabby; grandparents, William and Lori Schmidt, Appleton; Mary Lorbetske; William (Marlene) Kotarski, both of Green Bay; aunts and uncles, Greg (Jenelle) Rademacher, Joe (Kristin) Guell, Nicholas Sivas (friend, Emilie), Jake (Kerry) Reis, Bob (Carolyn) Kotarski, Mike (Angie) Hendrickson; special friends, Eric (Katie) Krause; many great aunts, uncles, and cousins; paternal great grandmother, Jane Matt; special great uncle and aunt, Jerry (“Nana”) DeVleeschower; dog, Finely, and lizard, Pogue.

She is preceded in death by her grandfather, Savas Sivas; and her great grandparents.

Visitation Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at St. John the Baptist Parish, 2597 Glendale Ave., from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Mass of Christian Burial 1 p.m. at the church with Father James Lucas officiating. Burial at Ft. Howard Cemetery. Malcore (West) Funeral Home is assisting the family, 499-4100.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff in the St. Mary’s Hospital ER, St. Vincent Hospital PICU, the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and everyone that assisted during this difficult time.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a memorial fund has been established at the funeral home.
