Ava Jade Silas, Maud, OK resident and third grade student of Asher Elementary School, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 in Maud, OK at the age of 8. Ava was born on May 12, 2016 in Ada, OK to Tanner Ray and Courtney Taylar (Thornton) Silas.
Ava was always smiling and eager to give hugs. She was the picture of a girl who lit up the room. She liked collecting stuffed animals and getting her nails done. Ava was very smart and a straight A student. She was Student of the Month and received the Stars of Honor award. She also enjoyed making bracelets, playing softball and basketball, dancing and talking to her friends. She played Roblox, made TikToks with her sisters including making makeup tutorials and skincare routines. She loved her family and took great joy in being a sister to Alexis, Paityn and Jordyn even if that meant teasing them as a sister does.
Ava was preceded in death by her papa, Nick Silas; great grandpa, Carl Roundtree; great grandpa, Johnny Ledbetter and great grandpa Randy Rust.
Ava leaves to treasure her memory her parents, Tanner and Courtney Silas; sisters, Alexis Silas, Paityn Silas and Jordyn Silas; paternal grandparents, Roger and Tammy Kiser; maternal grandparents, Kim Thornton and Richard and Melissa Thornton; aunts and uncles, Kadee and John Brewer, Laney and Dylan Thornton, Justin Thornton, Brittney and Nat Honsinger, Chelsea Moody and Chaz Moody; cousins, Makaylee and Tryson Harrell and a host of other cousins and many other family and friends.
Those serving as casket bearers will be Gavin Ledbetter, Beau Guinn, Daniel Peters and Matt Peters. Honorary casket bearers will be Richard Thornton, Roger Kiser, Dylan Thornton, Justin Thornton, Trayson Harrell and John Brewer.
Viewing will be Friday, March 21, 2025 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 24, 2025 at Asher Public Schools Gymnasium with Pastor Butch Bradley officiating. Interment will follow at Cummings Cemetery in Maud, OK. Services are under the direction of Swearingen Funeral Home in Seminole, OK.
