Avelina Belen Damon

Avelina Damon, age 71, of New Salisbury, passed away on July 5, 2025.
She was born on February 22, 1954, in Sac-Sac, Dalaguete, Cebu, Philippines, to Eleuterio and Rosalia (Evarola) Pangalay. She was one of many siblings, including sisters Victoriana, Eufemia, Maxima, Damiana, and brothers Eutiquio, Emiliano, Jose, Santiago, and Lois.
Avelina attended school in the Philippines before immigrating to the United States, where she worked for many years as a dedicated dietician. Known for her compassion and commitment, she touched many lives through her work, always placing the well-being of others above her own.
She loved plants and found joy in nurturing them, just as she did with the people in her life. Her strong faith and devotion to prayer were a constant source of comfort and strength for her and those around her.
Avelina was married to Paul Damon and, together, they made their home in New Salisbury, Indiana, where they raised their family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Martin Damon; and her former husband, Terrell Bynum Jr.
Avelina is survived by her children: David Bynun, Nathanial Damon, and Sharon Hajec; and her grandson, Josh Worrall.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Swarens Funeral Home, Ramsey, IN.
Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Cremation was chosen.
