Melvin Donald Ash, age 87, of English, IN, passed away on February 27, 2025. He was born on April 15, 1937, to James and Pearl (Lofton) Ash in Ramsey, IN. He attended New Salisbury High School and spent much of his life working as a factory worker for Englehardt Company until his retirement.
On December 27, 2000, Melvin married Sherrie (Bond) Ash, and they made their home in English, IN. Melvin was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in English, IN. He had a variety of interests and passions, including playing guitar, writing songs, researching family genealogy, and gardening. Above all, he cherished spending time with his family and friends.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, James Levi Ash and Pearl Esther Ash; his first wife, Joyce Ash; three sisters, Ruby Duemann, Evelyn Hanson, and Dorothy Hansen; three brothers, Ralph Ash, Norman Ash, and Calvin Ash; and three daughters, Gilda Thompson, Dorcas Ash, and Theresa Ash.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sherrie Ash; his children, Timothy (Josie) Ash, Jeffrey (Angie) Ash, Denise (Rex) Griffiths, and Stephanie Larsen; as well as numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Marengo, IN, located at 4027 E. Goodman Ridge Rd. Marengo, IN 47140, on March 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 PM at the church, with burial to take place at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Depauw, IN.
