Bobby, Kelsey, Sean, Max

Baoen Zhang (Dec 8, 1944 – Sept 20, 2025) was born in Harbin, China and passed away peacefully in New York, surrounded by three generations of family.

He lost his father young and worked to support his family while excelling in school, later entering Beijing Medical College (now Medical School, Peking University). In Beijing, he met Xiuyun Meng, his lifelong partner. After graduation, he served at the Ministry of Geology in Beijing and Guangxi, where their two daughters, Wei and Yan, were born. He later pursued graduate studies and returned to Beijing after two decades away.

As a doctor, he cared for countless patients; as a professor, he edited textbooks that remain in use today. More than his professional achievements, he was remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a truly good man.

His daughters and their families settled in the United States, and for decades he and his wife devoted themselves to caring for their grandchildren – Bobby, Kelsey, Sean, and Max—who cherish him as both friend and guide.

He will rest in New York as a beloved father and grandfather, and in Harbin beside his mother, honoring his roots and his filial devotion.

Rest in peace, Baoen Zhang.
