Barbara Alexander Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kyker Funeral Homes - Sweetwater on Dec. 30, 2025.
Barbara Alexander, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on December 29, 2025. Barbara was born September 6, 1957, to Rev. James and Kate Alexander in Sweetwater. She attended Midway High School and was crowned Miss Midway her graduating year of 1975. Barbara was feisty, loved to banter and often outspoken. You didn't ask for an opinion, unless you wanted the truth. Barbara was a loving mother, who gave her all to support her children in their endeavors. She was their biggest cheerleader. She continued this with her grandchildren, as watching and supporting Jett play baseball was one of her greatest pleasures. Barbara's strong work ethic and inner strength was instilled in her children by her example. She was loving, devoted and kind. She also enjoyed playing the piano.

Barbara is preceded in death by her father, Rev. James Alexander and her brother, John "Buddy" Alexander.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Amanda Morrow, John Alexander and James Cansler; her mother, Kate Alexander; brother David (Tammie) Alexander and her grandchildren Jett Ingram and Ivy Cansler.

Receiving of friends will be held in the Kyker Funeral Home chapel in Sweetwater on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 7:00 PM with Rev. Chad Oody officiating. Interment will be Saturday January 3, 2026 in the Westview Cemetery at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, Barbara requested that memorials be made to Midway High School Baseball or Golf teams. These can be sent to Midway High School 530 Loudon Hwy Kingston, TN 37763. Place in memo which team you are honoring in her memory.
