Barbara Balsz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 22, 2025.
Beautiful Barbara Elaine was born on September 16, 1934. She peacefully passed into eternity, 90 years later, on January 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Barbara was born in Yakima, WA, to Vera and Morris Brennan. Spokane became their home in Barbara's childhood, and remained her home for the majority of her life. As a military wife of 16 years, Barb enjoyed traveling the country and the world. She earned a degree in education from Eastern Washington State College. Barbara was a loving and devoted mother - her dream job - and delighted in her beloved children and grandchildren. Her life was not without adversity and sacrifice, and Barbara faced every challenge with tenacity, integrity and grace. She was a fierce and loving protector, with a sense of humor that charmed all who knew her. From the cashier at the grocery store, to her favorite servers at she and Hank's favorite restaurant - Ranch Chico, to her family and longtime friends, to know Barbara was to love her and to appreciate the love and spunk that shone through her piercing blue eyes.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Vera and Morris, her sister Patricia, and her late husband Hank, the love of her life. She is survived by her children and children-in-law, Patrick and Lori Daisley (Spokane), Sharon White and Kurt Braegger (Spokane), and Pamela and Tony Karais (Seattle), five grandchildren, Alaina, Tyler, Travis, Andie, and Ali, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren, who all miss her dearly.

A celebration of Barbara's beautiful life will be held on Saturday, March 15th, 2025 in Spokane, WA, at the Museum of Arts and Culture at 1pm (Gilkey Community Room - 2316 W 1st Ave, Spokane, WA 99201). Barbara loved St. Patrick's Day - we invite you to wear green.

We love and miss you every day!

Miss you very much Barb. We have many memories together and I really miss our lunches together. You treated me very well and welcomed me as a son-in-law into your family. You had that beautiful smile right up till the time you left us.
You will always be loved and missed.
