Richard DYMOND Obituary
Richard Perry Dymond was born November 28th, 1940, in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras, to Perry and Minnie (Jones) Dymond. Richard passed away August 9th, 2025, in Spokane, Washington. He was preceded in passing by his four sisters, Hope, Carolyn, Victoria and Charity. Richard's parents were missionaries, he grew up in Honduras until the age of 14, when he came to the United States to finish his education. Richard graduated from Raymond High School in 1958. He then attended Northwest Bible College, leaving early for volunteer service in the Navy. He worked as an operating room technician in Danang, Vietnam, in 1968, and was an avid photographer during his travels. He met his wife, Linda, in San Diego, marrying in Odessa in 1969 after returning from overseas. While serving his 20 years in the Navy, he and Linda lived in Quantico, Virginia, Bermuda, Bethesda, Maryland, Oceanside, California, and Bremerton, Washington, including another overseas deployment to Okinawa, Japan. Upon retirement as an HM1, Richard and Linda settled in Lamona, Washington. He then attended Eastern Washington University, receiving a degree in Business Administration in 1988, and worked as an X-Ray technician at Odessa Memorial Hospital until retirement. In 2012, he and Linda moved to Spokane, WA, to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. Linda passed away in 2017 and though Richard's mind was still sharp, his health made it difficult to manage a home, and he moved into a retirement community. Richard maintained a strong faith in God his entire life, participating in the church community wherever they lived. He was an avid reader and had an inquisitive mind, making sure to take his family to museums and historical sites often. He developed a love of genealogy and did extensive research on not only his own family, but in-law families as well. He maintained close ties with his family, visiting often with them in Port Angeles when possible. Richard maintained his fluency in Spanish his entire life and loved to chatter away with the surprised and impressed staff at the many Mexican restaurants he frequented. He returned to Santa Rosa for a final visit in 1997. He and Linda also traveled to Australia several times to visit their son and grandchildren there. Richard will be remembered for his relaxed attitude, good humour, kindness, and generosity. He is survived by his daughter, Lynann; his son, Robert; his granddaughters, Alexandra (Jay) and Lauren; and his grandsons, Mason and Hayden. A public memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, 3pm, at Mountain View Assembly of God.
