Marilyn Moomaw Obituary
Marilyn Mae Moomaw
May 6, 1936 - August 12, 2025
Jesus called Marilyn Mae Moomaw home on August 12, 2025 surrounded by her loving family, caregivers and hospice nurse. Ed and Elsie Whitehall welcomed their beautiful baby girl on May 6, 1936 in Entiat, WA. She joined her 3 year old brother, Don. When Marilyn was in the 1st grade they moved to a farmhouse in Monse, WA. Marilyn learned many practical skills living on a farm. It was her job to gather the eggs every morning, feed the animals and tend to the big garden. Her mom taught her how to sew, cook, bake and can fruits and vegetables. Those skills were much appreciated later with her kids and grandkids. Grandma was famous for her peanut butter fudge and chip dip. She loved to have family dinners and would always make enough for the whole neighborhood!
Marilyn graduated from Brewster High School in 1954. She married her high school sweetheart, Monte, 2 days after graduation. Their first home was in Malott and then moved to Omak where they lived many years raising their children, Deb and Doug. They were married 20 years and divorced. 27 years later they remarried on April 1st. Monte had quite a sense of humor and picked the date. They became snowbirds and eventually bought a home in Yuma, AZ. They moved to Wenatchee when Monte was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. Marilyn was blessed with another marriage during their 27 year break. Don Conant and Marilyn were married for 26 years and enjoyed sharing their children and grandchildren. Don passed away in 1999.
Marilyn had many jobs and her first was at KOMW radio station in Omak as a receptionist. She was a librarian at the Omak Public Library. Her favorite job was a secretary at Copple Jr High in Omak. She loved all the students, even the trouble makers! Lastly, she worked 20 years at Wenatchee Valley College North Campus as Assistant Administrator.
In 1982 Marilyn earned a BA degree at Eastern Washington University. That same year her son, Doug earned a Speech Pathology degree. It was a special day and a proud accomplishment when they walked together at the commencement ceremony.
Music was always an important part of Marilyn's life. She was given the gift of playing the piano by ear. She enjoyed sharing her talent with family, friends and several nursing homes in Wenatchee. She moved to Wenatchee Senior Living about 3 years ago and played on Saturdays for the residents. She made it great fun because she played "Name that Tune" and the residents would win prizes, mostly candy! Her sweet smile and sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who knew her and loved her. She was a cherished mom, grandma and auntie. We will see you again someday.
Marilyn is survived by her children, daughter, Debi Jaquish, son-in-law Dave Wenatchee, son, Doug Moomaw Wenatchee, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private family graveside service will take place later this year.
