Barbara Josephine Barabe

Barbara J. Barabe of West Yarmouth, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 23,2025.

She was born in New Bedford on April 6,1939 and attended high school there. After graduating she moved to the cape where she began her family. She later got a degree and was a legal secretary for many years.

Barbara was a member of the Moose Lodge in West Yarmouth. She enjoyed roller skating and skated in many competitions. She also enjoyed playing bingo, camping, the beach, clamming and working in her yard. Most of all spending time with her family and dogs.

We would like to thank Anodyne and all of the girls for all the love and wonderful care. It's been quite a journey. We appreciate you all very much. We would also like to thank our amazing neighbors for always checking in and caring about mom. She will be missed by many; the neighborhood will never be the same.

She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Publicover (Rick Whitehead) of Fort Pierce Fla., her son Jeffrey Fregeau of Yarmouth, a sister Lillian Souza of N. Dartmouth and 3 grandchildren, Nicholas Publicover of Centerville, Emma Publicover of Yarmouth and Molly Fregeau. She was predeceased by her parents Louis R. and Yvonne Souza and her son James L. Fregeau.
