Barbara “Beebee” Russell, age 80, of Crestwood, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home on August 14, 2025, at 3:05 p.m., surrounded by her loving family.

Beebee lived a life filled with adventure and compassion. She traveled throughout Europe, explored the United States, and even spent time living on a sailboat in the Virgin Islands. Wherever she went, she carried a spirit of curiosity and wonder that inspired those around her.

Her home was always a safe haven for her grandchildren-a place of comfort, laughter, and unconditional love. Known for her selflessness, Beebee was among the first to go out of her way to help others, embodying kindness in both word and deed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and Elvin Wappes; her brothers, Kenneth Wappes and Steve Wappes; and her daughter, Laura Elizabeth Carter.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Emmy Allen (Austin), Ashley State (Kevin), Adeline Tonn, Aiden Tonn, and Annalee Tonn; her daughter, Catherine Tonn (Thomas); and her great-grandchildren, Georgia State and Elowyn Allen. She will be remembered always for her adventurous spirit, generous heart, and the love she shared so freely with her family.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the ALS Association in her honor.
