Barbara M. Campbell, 83, of Smyrna, NY, passed away on Wednesday March 20, 2024 following a brief illness at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.
Born October 24, 1940 in North Norwich, NY, Barbara was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mattie (Bowers) Wright Sr. She was a graduate of Sherburne Central School Class of 1958. On April 24, 1965, she was united in marriage to her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Wayne E. Campbell. Together they shared three children, and operated their family business, Tri Valley Septic Service Inc. Prior to helping run the family business, Barbara had worked as a nurses aide at Valley View Nursing Home and and Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Barbara was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt who cherished time spent with her family. She especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Barbara loved to visit with family and friends, and made sure to chat on the phone with her sisters, daughters, and granddaughter Kayla on a daily basis. Despite having a large family, she never forgot a single birthday, anniversary, or any date of importance. Barbara was an avid Syracuse University basketball fan. When she wasn't watching a game, she could be found watching and singing along to The Grand Ole Opry, Mollie B. Polka Party, and The Daniel O'Donnell Show. In years prior, Barbara enjoyed spending the summers camping at Lebanon Reservoir and traveling to Florida to visit her best friend, Linda Doeberl and family.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Wayne Campbell; her children, Scott (Becky) Tredway, Sherri (Robert) Rundell, and Lisa Campbell (Tina Anderson); grandchildren, Renee (Harlie) Stowell, Jason (Denise) Tredway, Tyler (Courtney) Rundell, Ashley (Max) Winder, and Kayla Osterndorff (Ian McLaren-Dunshee); great-grandchildren, Madisyn (Tony), Mytchell, Mykah, Maddyx, Maccoy, Cassidy, Bailey, Gracie, Sophie, Sam, and Reid. She is also survived by her siblings, Dorothy "Ann" Alderman, Charles "Chas" Wright, and Richard (Sue) Wright; sister-in-laws, Barbara Wright, Sally Merrill, Kristene Campbell (David Crugnale), and Daralynn Campbell; and many special nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Clarence and Mattie Wright Sr; siblings, Clarence "Stinky" Wright, Mildred (Jesse) Tredway, Robert (Connie) Wright; brother-in-laws, Rupert "Fred" Alderman, William (Marla) Campbell, Lee Campbell, Stephen Campbell, Richard Merrill Sr; and nephew, Richard Merrill Jr.
In respect of Barbara's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
