Arlene F. Jones passed away at her home in North Norwich on Saturday Sept. 21, 2024. She was born April 23, 1936, in Earlville, the daughter of the late Floyd and Clara Ferris and was a 1954 graduate of Sherburne Schools. She was affectionately known as "Toots" her whole life. She was united in marriage to Leonard Jones on August 1, 1987, at Chenango Lake in Norwich.
Arlene made her career at Norwich Pharmaceutical/ Proctor & Gamble Company until her retirement. She spent many years on the factory line as a finisher. She was a hostess extraordinaire, her home and kitchen always open for large gatherings and holidays. Her favorite pastimes included travelling the countryside with Leonard, garage "sailing", shopping with her sisters, and happily rocking on her porch.
She is survived by her children Bruce & Cindy Brown of Smyrna, Karen & Dean Carrigan of Sherburne, and Debra & Sydney Smith of Hamilton, her stepchildren Rick & Kim Jones of North Norwich, Jennifer & Tom Helmstadt of Schoharie. She is also survived by her grandchildren Dylan, Leanna, Amanda, Katie, Dusty, Jessilee, Alysha, David, Colin, Olivia, Luke, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her eleven siblings and her stepdaughter Cindy Jones.
Friends are invited and may call on Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 1 pm to 3 pm at the Burgess & Tedesco Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, NY 13460. A memorial service will follow at 3pm.
Interment will be in the West Hill Cemetery, Sherburne. A celebration to honor "Toots" will follow.
