Barbara Costa Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Davenport Funeral Home, Inc. - Walhalla/West Union on Feb. 13, 2026.
Barbara passed away at home on February 11, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 95. The daughter of the late Bernard and Margaret Jeffer, she was born in Hackensack, NJ on October 2, 1930. She had a full and rich life, married for 71 years to her late husband, Ralph.

Mom and Dad left New Jersey in the early 1970's and moved to the Poconos in Pennsylvania, where they spent 20 years making new friends and eventually retiring. They then moved to Florida, where they enjoyed boating, trailer camping, and fishing. They made one last move in the early 2000's to Walhalla to be close to their son and daughter-in-law.

Mom enjoyed gardening and wherever she lived tended flower beds around the house. Mom especially enjoyed sewing and crafting. She sent Raggedy Ann and Andys all over the country. She was active in the Seneca chapter of Stitching Friends quilt club and many family members were the grateful recipients of her beautiful quilts. She loved to cook and family dinners were always looked forward to by anyone lucky enough to be at the table.

Mom enjoyed the simple life and was grateful for all the she had. She was the quintessential 1950's mom for whom home and family were everything. She was a joyful person and always happy to see friends drop by.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bernie. She is survived by her son: Ralph; and daughter-in-law: Joan Walker; her daughter: Susan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Interim Hospice for their dedication to Barbara's care.
