Barbara Craig Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Deiters Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd. - Washington on Dec. 4, 2025.
Barbara J Craig (Bobbie), 90, of Washington, IL, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Saturday November 29, 2025, at OSF Richard L Owens Hospice Home in
Peoria, IL.
Barb was born February 9, 1935, in Algona, IA to the late Earl and Veda (Robinson) Bowman. She married Donald E Craig on February 4, 1955, in East Peoria, IL. He
preceded her in death in 2007.
Surviving are their children, Michael Craig (Beth Bechtel) of Metamora, IL, Zoe (Chris) Benson of Hopewell, IL and Don (Vicky) Craig of Washington, IL, her six grandchildren,
seven great grandchildren and one sister, Judy Radig. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Barb proudly served as a WAVE with the US Naval Reserves during the Korean era from 1953 – 1955, serving at several stateside stations. During their mutual service in
the Navy, she met and married her husband, Donald, and they began their family. They began sharing their love of travel with their children on many memorable camping
trips throughout the country. Barb was very family-oriented and loved spending time with her children and their families. They were her life!
She and Don enjoyed many adventures together visiting 49 states, taking snow mobile trips and logging many miles on their Harley motorcycles. Barb rode her own Harley Sportster for many years, a highlight being the trip she made to Alaska. Barb had a big personality and an even bigger heart. She always had a story to tell with a smile or a laugh. She loved people and animals. Her one-of-a-kind feisty nature will truly be missed and never forgotten.
She was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Peoria Heights, IL, where a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 am Friday December 12,
2025. The visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm Thursday December 11, 2025, at Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington, IL. An additional visitation will be a half
hour prior to the mass at the church on Friday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Richard L Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL
