Barbara M. Crenny, 77, of Downingtown, passed away suddenly on Monday, December 30, 2024 at her home. She was the beloved wife of John J. "Jack" Crenny, with whom she shared 55 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William F. Moffitt, Jr., and Katherine Fee Moffitt. In addition to her husband, Barbara is survived by her three children, Lori Crenny (Mark Sieczkowski), Michael J. Crenny, and Kevin W. Crenny (Michelle Buretta). She is also survived by her three beloved granddaughters, Lauren, Kaitlin, and Rachel Sieczkowski. She was predeceased by two brothers, William F. Moffitt III and Gregory Moffitt.
Barbara and Jack chose to raise their family in Chester County, PA, where she resided for 46 years in Downingtown. Barbara was happiest when her home was filled with family and friends, especially the four-legged friends ever-present in her life. This is where her natural instincts positioned her as the ultimate pack leader, putting the needs and care of her dogs before all else.
Barbara's dream: a house "down the shore," on LBI. During countless happy summers with the neighbors on Leeward Avenue, her friends lovingly referred to her as someone who never met a stranger. She warmly welcomed all, be it owners, renters, or casual day visitors looking to relax with their toes in the sand of the Jersey Shore. She felt there was no better view from her deck than that of her granddaughters building sandcastles or surfing the waves.
Barbara loved a Bloody Mary on Sundays, Starbucks brewed at home, a pretty cocktail for her legendary Christmas Open House, a good book, St. Patty's Day, scratch-off cards, thoughtfully selecting gifts, The Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, the challenge of a gourmet recipe, Bingo on Monday's, a cheesesteak with American cheese, sauce, fried onions, and Coke. One of her great talents was to see things clearly, assess the situation, state it truthfully, and move on. Her tough exterior was no match for her charm, endearing her to all.
Services will be private with the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to The Tunnel to Towers Foundation or LaMancha Animal Rescue
