Barbara Dockery, a woman whose love and spirit were as bountiful as the rolling hills of her native Kentucky. Born on January 11, 1940, in Madisonville, Barbara was a shining light to all who knew her, and on March 21, 2025, she was called home to the Lord from Chandler, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith that will continue to resonate through the lives of those she touched.
Barbara's journey through life was one of unwavering devotion and joy. She was the beloved wife of Glover "Gene" Dockery for a remarkable 67 years, a testament to their enduring love and partnership. A pillar of strength for her family, Barbara was a cherished mother to Janice (Tom) Kopatich and Jennifer Adair. She was close to her siblings Lee (Rhonda) Flowers and brother-in-law Terrell Miller, as well as a dear sister-in-law to Faith Trout.
Her family circle was graced with laughter and joy from her grandchildren, Kyle (Bailee) Kopatich, Kendra (Jacob) Steinhart, Mackenzie Adair, and Jordan Adair. Barbara's heart swelled with pride for her great-grandchildren, Tatum, Tucker, Kinsley, and Jett. While she was preceded in death by her father Ishmel Littlepage, mother Mary Hazel Smith, sister Margie Sanders, brother JT Littlepage, sister-in-law Linda Miller, brother-in-law Wes Trout and son-in-law Tony Adair, her love for them remained as steadfast as ever.
A graduate of Central High School, Barbara's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of her many passions and contributions. Barbara worked for Shane's Uniform Factory. She began her career on the assembly line, working her way up to a Supervisor. Barbara retired as a Supervisor for Bristol Meyers Squibb in 1998. Her love for the game of golf was evident in her triumphant win at the Women's Golf Tournament, and she carried that same vigor and dedication into her spiritual life. A lifetime member of The United Methodist Church in Chandler and Millersburg, she served as a Youth Leader for UMYF and was a Prayer Warrior for the Ladies Sharing Group, touching countless lives with her unwavering faith.
Barbara was devoted to her children and grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to support and celebrate their achievements.
Let us hold dear the memories of her loving, faith-filled, and selfless spirit. She was a woman who nurtured her family with tender care. Barbara's legacy is not simply in the words we speak today, but in the love that continues to flourish in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
As we bid farewell to our dear Barbara, let us find solace in the knowledge that she is now resting in the loving embrace of our Savior. Her life was a testament to the power of love and faith, and her memory will forever be a guiding light for us all. Barbara Dockery lived a life that exemplified the virtues of the Proverbs 31 woman, and for that, we are eternally grateful.
May we carry forth her spirit in our own lives, spreading love and kindness as she did so freely. And as we part ways today, let us remember Barbara's unwavering belief in the goodness of the Lord and the promise of eternal life. Though she may have passed from this earthly realm, her spirit will continue to dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
We shall not say goodbye, but rather, until we meet again. For we know that Barbara Dockery, a true servant of God, has found her peace with her Lord for all eternity, Amen.
