Barbara Lou Doench, age 87, of Eaton, OH and formerly of Middletown, OH passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Vancrest of Eaton Healthcare Center. She was born August 6, 1938 in Gratis, OH to the late Herman and Ethel (Smith) Hollenbaugh.
Barbara was a 1957 graduate of Gratis High School; she retired as a school bus driver in 1998 from Edgewood City Schools; was a 4-H advisor for many years; and served her community as an EMT for Wayne Township.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Edward Doench; and brothers and sisters-in-law Gary and Donna Stubbs, Daryl and Ethel Hollenbaugh and Larry Hollenbaugh.
She is survived by her children Lori (Tony) Stall of Eaton, Lisa (Randy) Seeger of Sidney and Scott (Michelle) Doench of Trenton; grandchildren, Brad Miller, Brian Stall, Michael Seeger, Jennifer Griffith, Casey Doench, Cody Doench; stepgrandchildren Tyler Miller, Taylor Miller, Tanner Miller and Tori Miller; 21 great grandchildren; sisters Judy (Jerry) Thomas of Camden and Neysa (Bob) Shannon of Gratis; sister-in-law Linda Hollenbaugh; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 3:00 pm until the time of the funeral service at 5:00 pm at the First Brethren Church of Gratis, 100 S. East Street, Gratis, OH with Pastor Bob Shannon officiating. Gard Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Gratis is assisting with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, OH 45420.
