Barbara Kay Dunckel, age 79, of Alma, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2024, at her home. She was born September 13, 1944, in Oscoda, Michigan the daughter of Andrew and Margie (Dommer) Babka. She married the love of her life and best friend, Jerry Lee Dunckel on July 11, 1964.
Barbara worked as a waitress for many years. Her greatest joy was caring for others, especially her children and grandchildren. She was an exceptional cook and baker. Her apple pie won baking contests and her grandchildren loved the full cookie jar when visiting her home. She will be remembered for her contagious smile and always trying to bring happiness to others.
Barbara is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, Jerry; a daughter, Jill (Jim) Avery; a son, Scott Dunckel; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Andrea Babka; a brother, John Babka; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her son, Terry Dunckel; a granddaughter, Samantha Jo Langin; her parents; and siblings, Joann Reid, Don Babka and Linda Babka.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held in May. If you are interested in arrangement details, please reach out to the family.
