Barbara Ann Dunning, 65, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at Jerseyville Manor after a brief battle with cancer.
Born on November 17, 1959, she was the youngest daughter of Leland and Pat Bernt. Both have preceded her in death.
Barb was raised and lived her entire life in Alton, IL.
Barb married Ron Dunning, the love of her life. He preceded her in death in 2013.
Barb and Ron operated Lee Bernt Auto Services after her father retired. Barb took pride in decorating her home for each season and she loved attending craft shows. She was a huge Raiders fan.
Barb is survived by her and Ron's daughter, Angela Austill; Son-in-Law, Derek; Her grandchildren, twins, Gabriel and Rhoni; Sisters, Carrie Mellen and Brenda Vernatti (Troy); As well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Barb was devoted to her daughter and family. She excelled in her role as Nana. Barb's passing has left a void that her family cannot fill and she will be dearly missed.
In celebration of her life, visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the Main Street United Methodist Church in Alton, where funeral services will be at 10 am, Friday, October 10, 2025.
Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
