Barbara Frantom Obituary

Barbara Jean Parrino Frantom passed away on September 3, 2023.

Barbara was born on August 15, 1949 in Monroe, Louisiana to Baustiana (Bessie) Nola Parrino and Frank J. Parrino, Sr. She attended Neville High School and Louisiana State University, and married the love of her life, Calvert Samuel Frantom (Sam), in 1969. Together they had three sons. The family moved to Augusta, GA in 1984. She worked in many sales positions and in her latter years, became a licensed esthetician and was self-employed.

Barbara was an excellent cook and she loved to prepare meals for friends and family inspired by both her Italian heritage and her Louisiana roots. She also loved to dance and was so often referred to as the "life of the party". She was constantly planning the next social activity, be it a themed dinner party, a pool day, or any other excuse to bring people together. She found so much joy in having her loved ones close and truly never met a stranger. She was well loved by many near and far and took time to remain connected with those who touched her life, even if distance separated them. And though she experienced a difficult health journey over the last 30 years with several different types of cancer, her love of life and her strong faith kept her going, overcoming so many obstacles along the way.

She is survived by her sons, Calvert Todd Frantom (Polly), Brian Travis Frantom, and Samuel Sean Frantom (Jennifer), and three grandsons – Cason Gray Caruso, Charles Emory Frantom and William Samuel Frantom. She is also survived by two granddaughters – Abigail Madison Frantom and Emily Elizabeth Frantom.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sam, as well as her parents and her brothers, Frank Joseph Parrino, Jr. and Richard Paul Parrino.

Visitation will be at Thomas Poteet & Son on Davis Road on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Frantom Grandchildren's College Fund and mailed to 642 Canterbury Drive, Augusta, GA 30909.
