Barbara J. Furches, also known as Barbara Jean Snyder Furches, age 71, of Claremont NC and formerly of Mountain City, TN passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at her home. She was born on November 3, 1951 in Bend, Oregon, to the late Hardin Snyder and Myrtle Shelton Snyder. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Gail Snyder (Carl); brother, Wayne Snyder; great grandmother, Bessie Dotson; mother-in-law, Annie Furches; father-in-law, Albert Furches; brothers-in-law, Daney Peters, Barney Jennings, Ralph Jennings, Dan Furches, Kenneth Furches; sister-in-law, Betty Potter; aunts, Ann Shoun, Addie Horne (Otis); niece, Melody; nephews, Scott Snyder, Gary Furches, Sonny Potter.
Barbara worked from 1996 thru 2016 at Interstate Foam in Conover, NC. Barbara was a very special person, who never met a stranger. She enjoyed shopping and spending time with her best friend. Barbara was known for her famous chicken and dumplings. She was devoted to the Lord and faithfully read her Bible. She dearly loved her husband, children, and grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memories include her husband of 52 years, Dayton Floyd Furches; daughter and caregiver, Shelby Ann Furches; son, Dayton Shane Furches; grandchildren, Michael Dalton Furches (Ashley), Joshua Shane Furches (Whitney Dula), Spencer Stone Furches (Vanessa), Abby Nicol Furches; great grandchildren, Isaiah Furches, Colin Furches, Liam Furches; sisters, Joan Peters, Joyce Snyder (Burl), Sue Roark (Pablo); special cousin, Jim Snyder; sister-in-law, Nancy Snyder; special friends, Jeannie Lunsford, Pat Hall, Wanda Marie Hall, Helen Gallagher and daughter, Mary, Diane Clark, and Raymond Viera ; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Mountain City Funeral Home with a message by Pastor Jim Furches. A graveside service and burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Park.
