RICHMOND, Ind. – Barbara Ann Grimes, age 86, of Richmond, Indiana, went to her heavenly home at 7:41 p.m., on Friday, January 10, 2025.
Born June 25, 1938, in Hamilton, Ohio, to Roy and Verna Abrams Cox, Barbara first moved to Richmond when she was 1 ½ years old. She worked at Reid Hospital, Avco, and Cox's Grocery, but her life was primarily filled with being a wife and mother. Barbara was pianist and vocalist at the church and she also organized many events for the church. Her musical talents of the piano, guitar, and mandolin she shared with her children. Barbara enjoyed traveling and crocheting. She was a member of Full Gospel Chapel of Richmond.
Survivors include her children, Roy (Patricia) Grimes, Belinda (Charlie) Frye, Kevin (Suzi) Grimes, Anthony Grimes, and Mark (Becky) Grimes; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, Ralph (Joyce) Cox; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Samuel Grimes; son, Darrell Grimes; siblings, Willard Cox, Marie Miller, Roy Cox Jr., Delmer Cox, Elmer Cox, Lloyd Cox, Paul Cox, Virginia McKinney, Mildred Cox, and Yvonne Cox.
Calling for Barbara Ann Grimes will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with her grandson, Pastor Kris Grimes officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery, with a committal prayer from Rev. Bill Cox.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Full Gospel Chapel of Richmond, 915 Mendelson Drive, Richmond, IN 47374.
