CENTERVILLE, Ind. – Charles William Chesnut, age 83, of Centerville, Indiana, died Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Reid Health surrounded by family.

Born July 23, 1942, in New Paris, Ohio, to Charles Everett and Helen Irene Brown Chesnut, Charlie was a life-long resident of this area. He was a painter for Kemper Cabinets most of his working career, but worked at many other jobs too, roofing, moving, painting cars, etc. Charlie enjoyed going to car shows, and when he was younger, entered cars; doing yard work, and his family remembers that Charlie had a great sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Dawn Weatherly Chesnut; children, Tonya (Frank) Schoemaker, Lori Watkins, Renee (Brandon McClure) Chesnut, William Chesnut, and Martin (Nicole) McGrew; grandchildren, TJ (Danelle) Kirkland, Brandon (Gera) Kirkland, Kasey (Aaron) Matthews, Christy Kirkland, Rachelle (Kevin Byrd) Pucelj, Shaun (Mandy) Chesnut, Shane (Susan) Chesnut, Shara Chesnut, Shayla Crass, and Mackenzie (Dakota) McGrew; seventeen great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; many friends; and canine companions, Brutus and Baby Girl.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Christopher Chesnut; sister, Bonnie Wetzel; brother, Paul Chesnut; grandchildren, Tiffany Watkins and Ronnie Watkins Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jake Ryan and Landon Christopher; and special friend, Frank Rastbichler who passed away in March of 2025.

A Celebration of Life for Charles William Chesnut will be held at a later date. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.
