Barbara Eileen Grunkemeyer

Barbara Eileen (Hayes) Grunkemeyer, 82, of Lancaster, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. She was born July 20, 1943 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Samuel and Charlotte (Flack) Hayes.

Barb was a graduate of North High School in 1962 and married the love of her life, Albert Grunkemeyer in 1964. She was a Girl Scout leader, active in League of Women's Voters and a member of Glen Echo Presbyterian Church and then a member of Bremen Community Methodist Church.

Barb had an in home day care for over 30 years. She loved children and it was important to her to teach them how to pray. She hosted bible studies in her home and enjoyed having large gatherings of family and friends every holiday.

She is survived by her five children, Linda Ward, Robert Grunkemeyer, David Grunkemeyer, Steven Grunkemeyer and Daniel Grunkemeyer; her grandson, Charles Grunkemeyer; and 22 additional grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, August 14th at 11 AM in Bremen Community Methodist Church, 205 Walnut Street, Bremen, OH 43107 with Pastor Debbie Nance officiating. A luncheon will follow at the church. A time to visit with Barb's family will take place Wednesday, August 13th from 4 - 8 PM in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to Bremen Community Methodist Church.
