It’s with broken hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of our loving mother, Barbara J. Hacker, 77, of Sugar Grove, on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025. She was born on Monday, July 26, 1948, to the late John W. and Edna J. (Mathias) Stiverson.
Barbara loved her family more than anything– she was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was always spending time with them and making wonderful memories. Barbara enjoyed being outside, whether that meant going on a walk or being very meticulous about her yardwork. She enjoyed cooking, and everyone loved her homemade noodles. Barbara dedicated over 30 years to working for the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Young and Matthew Hacker; grandchildren, Kylee (Cody) Young, Connor (Alica) Young, and Clairissa (Craig) Hacker; great-grandchildren, Cady, Hunter, Ruby, Connor, Lainey, Aubrie, Bryson, Paisley, Maddi, Roscoe, Jensen, and Laken. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Edna; her sister, Sharon Kay Stiverson, and two grandchildren, Jessee and Curtis Young.
Per Barbara’s wishes, Caring Cremation® has taken place through Frank E. Smith Funeral Home, and a private service will be held at a later date.
