Barbara Hall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Woyasz & Son Funeral Service - Norwich on Mar. 9, 2026.
BARBARA JEAN HALL

August 12, 1961 – March 4, 2026

Barbara Jean Hall of Norwich, Connecticut, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on March 4, 2026.

Barbara was born on August 12, 1961, in Washington, D.C., to the late John W. Hall and Joyce A. Oates Hall.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Floyd "Pook" Harris; her sister, Angela Hall; and her brothers Mitch Hall, John "Apple" Hall, Anthony "Al" Hall, Willie "Donnell" Pemberton, and Alan "Wayne" Pemberton.

Barbara grew up in Norwich, Connecticut, where she attended Norwich Public Schools and proudly graduated from Norwich Free Academy, Class of 1979.

Throughout her life, Barbara worked in several places, including McDonald's, Thermos, and CVS, where she was fondly known as the "Hallmark card lady." She also held numerous other positions over the years, always willing to help others and lend a hand wherever she could. Barbara had a generous spirit and was passionate about caring for people.

Family meant everything to Barbara. She was especially devoted to her daughter, Jasmine Nicole Harris, and her beloved grandchildren, Lyric Little, Alaya Serrano, and Kai Balliger, all of Norwich.

Barbara loved children and was known for always caring for someone else's child as if they were her own. In her younger years she enjoyed shopping, fashion, and keeping her hair done. She also loved watching UConn Huskies basketball, along with her favorite television shows including FBI, CSI, Law & Order, Chicago P.D., and Chicago Fire.

Barbara was known for her quick wit, humorous spirit, and sometimes sarcastic punch lines that could change the atmosphere in any room. She had a loving heart, a strong personality, and a presence that people will never forget. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Barbara leaves to cherish her memory her beloved aunt, Elizabeth Hall Hurley, who lovingly raised her as her own daughter. She is also survived by her siblings: Joyce Hall Mather of Norwich, Steven Pemberton of Norwich, Jean (Pemberton) Smith, Brenda (Pemberton) Stone, and Judy (Pemberton) Bell, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives she touched.

Barbara's life, laughter, and love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Friends and family are invited to visit on Thursday, March 12, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with a service beginning at 11:00 am.
