Barbara Jean Hamilton, a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great- grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025 at Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary, NC at the age of 95.
Barbara was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 28, 1930 to Floyd Crandall and Barbara Werner Crandall. She was the youngest of eight children, all of whom predeceased her. Amongst her family she was known as "Bubs". She spent most of her childhood in Aurora, Indiana and graduated from Aurora High School in 1948. She then attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN for 2 years. On September 29, 1950, she married Theodore R. Hamilton and they moved to Trenton, NJ where Ted started his career with Union Camp Corp. Together they raised 5 children and lived in various places including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Michigan and Alabama. After Ted passed away in 2011, Barb moved from Alabama to Glenaire Retirement Community in Cary, NC.
Barb enjoyed flower gardening, bridge and golf. In Alabama, she won several golf tournaments at the Burningtree Country Club in Decatur. Among her friends she was known for her kindness and good sense of humor. A life-long Catholic, she often was involved in volunteer activities at her local Catholic church. While in Decatur, Barb was very involved with Meals-On-Wheels for many years.
Barb is survived by her 5 children: Karen Jameson (Marv) of Comstock, MI; Rita Hamilton (Marc Dent) of Phoenix, AZ; Paul Hamilton (Carol) of Cary, NC; Chris Hamilton (Carol Stugard) of Pittsboro, NC; and Matt Hamilton (Ian Gilbert) of Phoenix, AZ; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Barb will have a funeral Mass in Aurora, Indiana and will be buried in Riverside Cemetery in Aurora next to her husband.
