Leonard A. Jenkins, 81, of Marion, Indiana, passed away at 6:05 pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Miller's Merry Manor in Marion. Born in Warsaw, Indiana, on April 23, 1944, Leonard was the son of Everett and Wretha (Montel) Jenkins. On November 7, 1992, he married Barbara Bachik, who survives.
Leonard graduated from Sidney High School and went on to earn a B.S. in Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine from Purdue University, where he also completed his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. He dedicated his life to caring for animals and serving his community through his profession.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Leonard played softball throughout his life and was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and cheering for his favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jenkins of Marion; daughters, Eileen McMillan of Peru and Laura Gallagher of Marion; sons, Anthony (Deanna) Jenkins of Greenfield and Brian (Carrie) Gallagher of Indianapolis; grandsons, Grant (Jasmine) McMillan and Nicholas Gallagher; granddaughter, Paige McMillan; great-granddaughter, Madi McMillan; and brother, Robert Jenkins of South Whitley. Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jennifer Jenkins Riddle; and brothers, Arden Jenkins and Carl Jenkins.
Leonard will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and love for family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the memories shared.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
A funeral mass will begin at 12:00 noon with Father Block officiating at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1031 W. Kem Rd. Marion, IN. Burial will take place at South Whitley Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Marion-Grant County Humane Society P.O. Box 1921, Marion, IN 46952.
