Barbara J. "Barb" Heusted

Barbara "Barb" J. Heusted, age 89, of Lapeer, passed away surrounded by her adoring family, in the comforts of her home on July 12, 2024. She was born to Lorenzo and Mable Mathews on November 12, 1934, in Lum, MI. Barb was a lover of puzzles, bald eagles, and her faith. She dedicated many years to Calvary Bible Church volunteering however she could. Another passion in Barb's life was to travel and camp with her husband, visiting family, and sight-seeing.
On July 13, 1973, she married the love of her life, Donald H. Heusted. Together they created a large family that grew larger with every person she "adopted". Barbara was a grandma to numerous people, a tremendous testament to her loving and caring presence. Any time spent with family was well spent and ended in her unforgettable smile.
Barbara is survived by her children Loren House, Penny Lawrence, Shelly (Frank) Barcenas, Sandy (Scott) Griffin, and Lori (Aaron) Dukes; 32 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers Layton Mathews, and Howard Mathews; sisters Sharon Stone, and Donna Harvey; as well as many other extended family members.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents Lorenzo and Mable Mathews; adored husband of 36 years Donald H. Heusted; parents Bessy and Jake Graber; grandson Andy House; granddaughter Brandi Lawrence; daughter-in-law Arleene House, and son-in-law John Lawrence.
Friends may visit on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, from 4-8 p.m. at Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11 A.M. at Calvary Bible Church, 923 S. Main Street Lapeer, MI 48446. Friends may visit prior to the service from 10 A.M. until the service. Pastor Jeremy Lazzell will officiate. Burial at Dawn Memorial Cemetery will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
