Barb Karau, age 78 of Lewisville passed away with her loving sons by her side Monday October 7, 2024 at the Madelia Hospital. A celebration of her life will take place Friday October 11, 1pm at Salem Lutheran Church in Madelia with Pastor Greg Volbrecht officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be at Antrim Cemetery.
Born on July 27, 1946, Barb dedicated her life to the service of others, highlighted by her tenure at Fairmont Hospital from 1994 until her retirement in 2011.
Barb was a graduate of Truman Public High School and was a lifelong learner, always eager to expand her knowledge and skills. Her commitment to community was also evident in her religious life, as she was an active member of St John's Lutheran of Antrim and later Salem Lutheran of Madelia.
Known for her kind soul and ever-present smile, Barb touched many lives. Her hobbies included playing bingo, enjoying games of cribbage, and most importantly spending cherished moments with her grandchildren, Lily, Elizabeth, and Emily.
Barb leaves behind a loving family: her siblings Donna (Frank), Beverly (Keith), Janice (Bill), Walter (Becky), and Patricia; her sons Joshua (Janelle) and Jacob (Megan); and her three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Laura; siblings Baby and Dorothea (Harold); and her beloved husband, Jerry.
