Barbara Sue Barton Keeton passed away on October 2, 2025 with her daughters by her side and surrounded by family.

Visitation will be from 6-7:00 PM, Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.

Barbara was born April 30, 1941 in Nacogdoches, Texas to C.T. and Wilma Barton. Barbara met her soulmate, Vondel (Buster) Ray Keeton, in Amarillo, TX at the young age of 17 while he was stationed at Amarillo Air Force Base. They were married on February 7, 1959 in Amarillo. They were relocated to Dyess AFB in Abilene, TX where all three of their sons were born. Buster and Barbara were relocated again to Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ where their oldest daughter was born. During this assignment, Buster was sent to Vietnam and Barbara moved back to Amarillo to be close to family during this time. Upon his return, the family was relocated to Carswell AFB in Fort Worth, TX for four years. Their last relocation was to Plattsburgh, NY at Plattsburgh AFB where their youngest daughter was born. After Buster’s retirement in 1975, the family moved back to Amarillo, TX to raise their family. Barbara and Buster spent many years traveling in their motorhome with their favorite spots being Fun Valley, CO in the summers and Texas Hill Country in the winters.

Barbara attended Amarillo College where she received an Associates Degree in Medical Records Tech in 1982. She worked for St. Anthony’s Hospital until retiring in 1991.

Barbara and Buster spent 64 wonderful years together until his death in 2023.

Barbara was a ball of fire and strength. Everyone who met her instantly loved her and knew she was a caring person. During her grandchildren’s high school years, Barbara and Buster (Meemaw and Pappaw) cooked lunch for them each Friday, and any friends they wanted to bring with them. Barbara was sassy, funny and full of love for her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and even for her doggy grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her sons, Scott Keeton of California, Danny Keeton and wife, Darenda. Her daughters, Janet Ewing and husband, Allen and Julie Norman and husband, Robbie. Barbara had eight grandchildren, John Eric Keeton and wife, Tara and Sarah Keeton; Allyson Keeton and Olivia Keeton; Katelyn Ewing Vagrosky and husband, Hunter, Jacob Ewing and wife, Shea; Kale Norman, Lake Norman and wife, Mariah. Barbara had two great grandchildren, Mason Keeton and Carter Grace Vagrosky. She is also survived by a very special sister in law, Ellen Barton.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, C.T. and Wilma Barton, her brothers Don and Mike Barton, her son David Keeton and her twin great grandchildren, Everett and Emersyn Vagrosky. Barbara is now reunited in heaven with the love of her life, Buster Keeton.
