Barbara Langley Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory - Ball on Jan. 18, 2026.
Mrs. Barbara Glen Hughes Langley, age 75 of Harrisonburg, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, curiosity, and love that will forever be remembered by those who knew her.

Visitation for Barbara will be held at Meyers Bend Pentecostal Church in Harrisonburg on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 10:30-11:30 am. Services will be at 11:30 am at the church with Brother Chad Franklin officiating.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Tristan Langley, Peyton Laing, Jonathan Nichols, Troy Black, Jason Torry, and Jeremy Booth. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrel Black, Donnie Torry, and Michael Booth.

Barbara Is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Lavelle Langley; parents, George and Lucy Hughes; and baby sister, Martha Hughes.

Those left to cherish and celebrate her memories are her loving children, Joey Langley (Sherry) and Raquel Edmondson (James); grandchildren, Tristan Langley, Katie Langley, Peyton Laing, and Macy Laing; sisters, Georgia Nichols, Norma Booth (Michael), Brenda Torry (Donnie), and Sheryl Black (Darrel); nine nieces and nephews, and twenty-two great nieces and nephews.

A truly caring soul, Barbara spent her life doing whatever she could for others. Whether it was offering a helping hand, a warm meal, or a listening ear, she made everyone around her feel valued and loved. Her heart for service was evident in all she did, especially during her 20 years as cafeteria manager at Harrisonburg High School. There, she nourished not only students' bodies, but also their spirits, treating each child as if they were her own.

Outside of her work, she found great joy in genealogy, carefully tracing family history and preserving the stories of those who came before her. She took pride in knowing where she came from and ensuring those memories lived on. She also loved tending to her garden, finding peace in watching things grow-much like the way she nurtured everyone around her.

Her greatest joy, however, was her family-especially her beloved grandbabies. They were the light of her life, and she poured endless love into each of them, creating memories that will be cherished forever.

To know Barbara was to be touched by her gentle spirit and generous heart. She leaves behind a family who adored her, friends who treasured her, and a community made better by her presence. Her kindness will live on in the countless lives she touched.
