Barbara Guzowski Loose took her final bow the evening of July 2nd, 2025, passing peacefully in her home.
Barbara was an Erie native, born on August 1, 1948, the daughter of Joseph Alphonse Guzowski and Rose May Hollingdale. She is preceded in death by her late husband of 45 years, William David Loose Jr.
After a career at Security People’s Bank, Barbara spent the next 42 years as a full-time homemaker. She felt a great sense of pride in transforming a house from a physical structure into a place filled with warmth, comfort, and personal meaning.
Barbara went through life with an intensity and passion unique to herself, cultivating space for her family to feel a sense of belonging, create memories, and find solace. Barbara ritualized the kitchen as a gathering place, providing home-cooked meals for family dinner five days a week. Never shy, she spiritedly involved herself with her daughters’ many extracurricular interests, acting as troop leader, sports chauffeur, room mother, chaperone, librarian, stage mom, and craft coordinator to name a few.
Her restless nature was appeased through extensive travel with David, and she often fondly recalled trips abroad, many cruises, and seven vacations to Hawaii. She loved reading books, girls only sleepovers, sailboat adventures, trying new things, gardening, staycations at her family cottage, encouraging rebellious ideas, laughing until it hurts, pink lipstick, and occasionally bursting into song at inappropriate times.
Her radiant spirit is carried on by her “Loose Ladies” legacy, being survived by daughters Amanda Loose and Holly Loose and a much-loved granddaughter RoseMae Nagle, all of Erie. Her absence leaves a void that cannot be filled.
