Barbara J. Lueras (McMonigle, Caspi) was born on March 9th, 1945, in Corona, NM. She is the daughter of the late Gertrude “Trudy” Lueras (Maes )and Demecio Jaramillo “DJ” Lueras. She succumbed to a long battle with Dementia and Aphasia at the age of 79. She is survived by her sister Esther Lueras, daughter Debbie Romero (McMonigle), and granddaughter Monique Romero, all residents of Albuquerque.
She was educated in New Mexico schools, she was the 1st graduating class of Manzano HS. She attended Regina School of Nursing in Albuquerque and finished her degree at Indiana University SouthEast, where she worked at Clark County Hospital in Jeffersonville IN. After 12 years in Indiana, she returned to Albuquerque.
She dedicated her life’s work as an RN nurse for 40+ years. She worked at St. Joseph Hospital in the Cancer Center Department, doing Gamma Knife radiation. She was known for her compassion and patience. She touched so many lives throughout her career.
She cherished time with family & friends and also enjoyed traveling, dancing, shopping, dining, and time at the casino. She had a bubbly personality and a beautiful smile, one of the most precious things we will remember.
She was a wonderful sister, mother, grandmother, and friend. Her family says Go in peace, her mother and father will greet her with all the angels in heaven. She will be in our hearts forever.
