Rosa Vela Lueras, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and wife, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025, in Carrizozo, New Mexico, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 1, 1949, in Corona, New Mexico, Rosa was a vibrant soul whose spirit of warmth and joy touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Rosa was full of life, cherishing every moment spent with her family and friends. Her beautiful smile could light up even the cloudiest days, and her laughter was a cherished melody for those around her. She was devoted to her Catholic faith, finding comfort and solace in prayer, particularly when praying her Rosary. Rosa's connection with her spirituality enriched her life and the lives of those she loved.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond F. Lueras, and their loving children: Ramon Lueras Jr. (wife Linda) and Anna Williams (husband Jesse). Rosa's legacy continues through her adoring grandchildren: Breana Williams, Angela Samora (husband Joseph), Rashaad Williams (husband Tumeld Seemule), Ryslyn Lueras, Erollyn Lueras, and Justin Garcia (wife Denise). Her heart swelled with pride for her great-grandchildren, Raylyn Samora, Marcus Samora, and Emily Samora, who brought her endless joy and laughter.
Rosa was also blessed with a close bond to her siblings: Luciano Chavez, Danny Chavez, Grace Warfield, Della Luna, Marcella Chavez, and Kathy Palomarez. Together, they created a tapestry of memories filled with love, laughter, and countless shared moments that will forever be cherished. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, each one a testament to her boundless love and nurturing spirit.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Romelio and Romanita Chavez; as well as her brothers Ralph and Henry Chavez; and sisters Josie Alirez and Alvarita Smith. Their memories will forever remain a part of her legacy, woven into the love that she shared with her family.
As we remember Rosa Vela Lueras, let us celebrate her life—a life that embodied love, compassion, and unwavering faith. May her beautiful smile and gentle spirit continue to live in our hearts forever.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00AM Friday, July 18, 2025 at Santa Rita Catholic Church in Carrizozo, New Mexico.
