Barbara Jean MacDougall, 68, of Lookout Mountain passed away January 28, 2025. Barbara was born May 5th, 1956 in Urbana, IL to Robert J. and Laura Evers Moolenaar. She was raised in the state of Michigan where she graduated from Hope College with a Bachelors Degree in English. After graduating she married her high school sweetheart Daniel MacDougall on May, 27th, 1978. Dan and Barbara were always on the move going from Michigan to Philadelphia, Canada, Scotland and finally here in the North Georgia/ Tennessee area. She loved planning trips with family and traveling anytime she could. Barbara completed her Master's Degree in Education at Covenant College. She taught English at Chattanooga Christian School for 18 years, having also taught in Scotland and Philadelphia. She led and participated in Bible studies in every place they lived. The only thing she enjoyed more than reading, gardening, and traveling was getting to spend time with family, especially her grandchildren. She and her husband are members at LMPC.
Survivors include her loving husband of 46 years, Dan MacDougall; children, Rob (Moby) MacDougall, John Gregor (Maria) MacDougall, Christy (Dave) Gambrell; parents, Robert and Laura Moolenaar; grandchildren, Knox Gambrell, Hope Gambrell, Eddie Gambrell, Anna MacDougall, Jura MacDougall, and Mara MacDougall; brothers, Ron Moolenaar and John Moolenaar.
A memorial service will be held at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
The family will receive friends 1-3 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025 at Lookout Mountain Presbyterian Church.
