Barbara lived in Monticello, Florida for most of her life. She resided with her eldest son, Edsel, and his wife, Cholea, in Monticello for the last 7 years until she moved to Lake Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Madison, Florida in March 2025.
Barbara loved her family, and she enjoyed crochet, fishing, and cooking.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Edsel A. Matthews; son, Lester Q. Matthews; daughter, Lenita L. McMullen; and great granddaughter, Jamie L. Weaver. She is survived by her sons: Edsel A. Matthews (Cholea) and Donald P. Matthews (Paula); 8 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Elizabeth Cemetery in Monticello, beginning at 11:00 A.M.
