Barbara Carol McWhorter passed away on February 14, 2025 at the age of 83. She was born on March 30, 1941 in Big Spring, Texas to Earshall and Lillian (Wilson) Hagood. Barbara lived a life that echoed warmth, compassion, and creativity.
A proud graduate of Monterey High School, where she completed her studies in 1959, Barbara carried the lessons from her formative years into a life filled with purpose and love. Barbara had a passion for quilting and would spend countless hours crafting beautiful lap quilts, which she generously gifted to local nursing homes.
Barbara's interests extended beyond quilting; she was also an avid genealogy researcher, through the research she would find graves that had metal markers and would have a headstone made for those graves.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Mark Roberds and Sandra Whitaker; brother, Eddie Hagood and wife Jeanette; sisters, Elizabeth Lowe and husband Glenn, Pam Montes, Debbie Stark and husband Danny; 6 grandchildren, Ryan Whitaker, Lenee Pacheco and husband Fredy, Lisa Roberds, Rebecca Robets and husband Michael, Cyndi Roberds and significant other Joe Foster, Marc Timpe, along with 12 great grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Marlin Roberds; second husband, George McWhorter; son, William Roberds and brother, Donnie Hagood.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Grice Cemetery.
