Barbara L. Michell

Barbara L. Michell, 86, of New Albany, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital.
The former Barbara Schneider, was born in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Leonard and M. Joyce Schneider. Barbara was a proud graduate of New Albany High School, Class of 1956, and later earned her degree from Gulf Park College in Mississippi.
She dedicated many years of service to the New Albany Floyd County Schools and was a lifelong member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Barbara was a devoted member of several bridge clubs and loved spending this time with her best friends. She was also an active participant in the Tri-Kappa Sorority. She loved gardening and took great pride in working in her yard. One of her greatest joys was supporting and attending her grandchildren's activities, always cheering them on with love and pride. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 65 years, James A. "Jim" Michell, her sons: Steven Michell(Jeannine) and David Michell(Shannon), her daughter: Pam Smith(Bill), 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Barbara's life will be held at 10:30 AM Friday May 16, 2025 at the Oak Street Chapel of Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes(1846 E. Oak St.) with entombment in SCI-Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation will be from
3 – 7 PM Thursday and from 9:30 – 10:30 AM Friday before the service.
Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity United Methodist Church or Hosparus of Southern Indiana.
