Jesse Mason Beyl, 101, passed away late afternoon surrounded by his family of Friday, December 12th, 2025, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on May 29th, 1924, at home in Borden, Indiana to the late Jesse Mason Beyl, Sr. and Zola (Jackson) Beyl Brocklehurst. He married the love of his life, Agnes Stewart (Irvine) Beyl for 73 years blessed years until her passing in 2018.
In addition to his parents, Jesse is preceded in death by; step-father, Kelsy Brocklehurst; loving wife, Agnes Stewart (Irvine) Beyl; sisters, Francis Hines, Ruby Cunningham, and Virginia Harris, brother, Billy Beyl, and a grandson, Chris Carpenter.
Jesse was active in his community where he served as a councilman on the Sellersburg Town Board from 1956 to 1963, and after joining the Free Masons in 1952, he was an active Mason for more than 70 years, even serving as Past Master at the Buckner Lodge # 631. He worked in maintenance department at the Colgate Plant in Jeffersonville for over 30 years. In the late 1980s he volunteered as a probation officer. He was a man of strong faith and treasured attending St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
Jesse joined the Army Air Core on February 20th, 1943, and proudly served his country in World War II and was honorably discharged on November 20th, 1945. Jesse was given the honor and being physically able to attend an honor flight. He was very proud to be one of the last 40,000 World War II veterans still living.
Left to cherish his memory; daughters, Carol Messmer (Jim), and Denise Behr (Gary); grandchildren, Kevin Messmer (Leslie), Karen Messmer Arthur (Jack), Becky Carpenter Carroll (Chris), Laura Behr Spalding (Patrick), and Sarah Behr Harville (Isaiah); great-grandchildren, Dakota Carroll, Shelby Carroll Lilly, Alexis Arthur, Alexandria Carpenter, Mason Messmer, Carson Messmer, Sydney Messmer, Lillian Spalding, Ezekiel Harville, Elias Harville, Evie Harville, Ezra Harville, and Emmaus Harville; and one great great grandchild, Calum Carroll.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27th at the Oak Street Chapel of the Naville & Seabrook Funeral Homes located at 1846 E. Oak Street in New Albany, Indiana, from 11 AM – 12 PM, with a Masonic Service at 12 PM to begin the Funeral Service. Private burial to follow at Ebenezer Cemetery with Military Honors.
Expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations in Jesse's name to St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Jeffersonville, Indiana.
