Barbara Ann Miller went home to Jesus Saturday, May 18 after a lengthy illness.  She will be greatly missed by everyone.

Born October 18, 1936, in Kingsville, Texas, Barbara spent all of her years in South Texas.  She graduated a Battlin’ Buc in 1955 from Roy Miller High School in Corpus Christi where she served as yearbook editor and wrote the lyrics to their school fight song.   Once a Buc always a Buc.  After graduation Barbara attended Del Mar College and worked for Central Power and Light Company.  On April 18, 1959, she married her high school sweetheart LeRoy after he returned from service in the US Army.  They were married for 65 years.

Soon they bought land on the Nueces River and built their home, where they raised their three children Michelle, Melissa, and Mark.  Barbara devoted herself full time to her family, church, and community through numerous volunteer opportunities.

As a born-again believer, she has long been an active member of Annaville Baptist Church.  She taught many summers in Vacation Bible School and enjoyed being a Department Director for Young Adult couples within the church.  She adopted many of the couples as her own and worked to maintain those relationships.

Barbara had the gift of hospitality.  She coordinated countless church fellowships and helped many young couples plan their wedding and reception.  She and LeRoy loved entertaining people at their home also.   Over the years they hosted family reunions, wedding showers, birthday parties, Sunday School fish fries and the list goes on.

Over the years she served as Room Mom, Team Mom, Bluebird Leader, and Band Sponsor.  She sewed twirling uniforms for the girls and knew how to correctly keep a Little League scorebook, including the difference between struck out swinging and struck out looking.

In short, she loved God and loved others.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Arthur B. and Gladys Cross.  She is survived by her husband LeRoy, daughter Michelle Hall (James) of Grapevine, daughter Melissa Sebesta (Stephen) of Austin, son Mark Miller (Carrie) of Portland, and a brother Brad Cross of Austin.

Barbara is also survived by seven grandchildren Kristin Walton (Ian), James Robert Hall, Caleb Miller, Caden Miller, Caroline Miller, Kathleen Miller, and Colten Miller; along with two great-grandchildren Scarlett Anne and John Charles Walton.

The family wishes to thank all who have supported Barbara and LeRoy these past several years including the Lunch Bunch who meet every Saturday at Miller’s BBQ, Brookdale Assisted Living, Gentiva Hospice, and the wonderful people of Amazing Grace Assisted Living House who cared for Barbara this past year.

There will be a celebration of Barbara’s life Saturday, May 25, 11:00 am at Annaville Baptist Church in Corpus Christi, with visitation preceding at 10 am.   The burial service will be Wednesday, May 29, 10 am at the Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Annaville Baptist Church.
