Barbara A. O'Brien, age 92, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024, at Grand Pines Assisted Living Community. She was born October 16, 1932, in Ferrysburg to David and Angeline (Bonema) Ruiter. On May 3, 1958, she married Richard J. O'Brien, and he preceded her in death on July 21, 2011.
Barbara retired from Structural Concepts and was an avid reader. She loved Lake Michigan and was able to realize her lifelong dream of living on the Lake. She was born and raised in Ferrysburg and after years of living in several different states, she and her husband Dick eventually returned to Grand Haven. Barb was a regular walker on the boardwalk in Grand Haven and a member of Ferrysburg Community Church. She loved being with her family, and she especially loved being a grandmother.
Barbara is survived by two children: William (Terri) O'Brien of Saginaw, and Monica (Richard) Eerdmans of Jenison; five grandchildren: Kelly, Katie, and Colin O'Brien, and Andre and Shannon Eerdmans; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Megan Rae O'Brien.
There was a private graveside service at Spring Lake Township Cemetery and a celebration of life will be announced at a later date. Please sign the family's online guestbook at www.sytsemafh.com.
