Barbara Alvina Peace, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
On an extremely cold, snowy day, December 31, 1933, Barbara made her appearance into the world. Her parents, John and Irene (nee Paquette) Johnson, welcomed her into their family. They lived in Laurium, Michigan, located in Houghton County and the center of the Keweenaw Peninsula. Barbara married John NeVille and started her family; they were married for 25 years. She then married Harold Wagar and added another daughter to her family; they were married for 18 years. In 1994, she completed her family by marrying Thomas Peace and they have shared 31 wonderful years together and have made countless memories with their blended family. Barbara enjoyed trips to the casino and traveling with Tom visiting every state in the United States. She had a love/hate relationship with doing the dishes and everyone knew that she loved an empty sink but hated doing the dishes and no one else could do them because they didn't do them right. Barbara loved her family fiercely. She never missed an opportunity to get everyone together for family dinners, holidays and parties. Barbara's passing has left a void in the hearts of those closest to her and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Thomas Peace; children, Larry NeVille, Anne (Ty) Lichonczak, Jack NeVille and Tina Douglas; step-children, Nancy (Jim) Coakley and Andrew (Lisa) Peace; grandchildren, Larry (Laura) NeVille, Jenny (Mark) Biscarner, Amanda (Cody) Couts, April (Justin) Kuretich, Richard (Mew) Catrow, Crystal (Mitch) NeVille, Amber NeVille, Rachael (Chad) NeVille, Alissa (Pat) Sox, Sabrina (Alex) Douglas, Martina (Wes) Douglas, Donnie (Ava) Douglas Jr, Erica (Jeremy) Peace, Kennedy (Adrian) Coakley, Katie (Joe) Coakley, Andrea Peace, Andrew (Lupé) Peace, Matthew (Weronika) Peace, Freya Blankenship, Sorcha Blankenship and Shane Blankenship; great-grandchildren, Josh NeVille, Kayla NeVille, Cayden Biscarner, Natalie Biscarner, Austin Biscarner, Mordecai Policka, Angelique Policka, Caleb Kuretich, Eli Kuretich, Nolan Kuretich, Richard Catrow, Lilah Garrison, Jayce Garrison, Brynna Garrison, Emma Sox, Oliver Sox, Morgan Sox, Ben Sox, Ivan Ward, Elijah Kruise, Apollo Schornack, Andres Peace and Tayler Peace; siblings, Shirley Wade and June Walewski; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
