Barbara Jean Rasmussen, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in Perham, MN surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Barb was born in New Richmond, WI on July 31, 1948, to Willard and Toni (Bos) Halverson. She graduated from Glenwood City High School in 1966 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from UW-Eau Claire in 1970. She served as the School Nurse for the School District of Glenwood City for 31 years.
On August 22, 1970, she married Charles “Skip” Rasmussen at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glenwood City. Upon Skip graduating from the Marquette University School of Dentistry in 1972, they returned to Glenwood City where Skip started a dental practice and they raised their four children.
Barb loved seeing her three boys play ball and her daughter cheerleading for the Toppers and she spent many weekends being a Band-Aide for the Topper Marching Band. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy. To them her blonde brownies were legendary.
Barb is survived by her husband, Skip Rasmussen; children, Chase (Tina) Rasmussen, Chad Rasmussen, Christopher (Alisha) Rasmussen, and Bethani (Nick) Moen; grandchildren, Hannah Rasmussen, Macie Rasmussen, Charlie Rasmussen, Jaidyn Rasmussen, Xande Nunley, Ellsie Rasmussen, Ellias Rasmussen, Jeron Gerber, Justin Gerber and Jorga Gerber; brothers, Bill (Joan) Halverson, Robert Halverson, and Bart (Cynthia) Halverson; sisters-in-law, Sally (Dave) Berkholder and Connie Anderson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Toni Halverson.
Visitation will take place 4-7 PM Monday August 18 at O’Connell Funeral Home, 1010 Newton St., Baldwin, WI and 10-11 AM Tuesday August 19 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 757 1st St. Glenwood City, WI. Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Tuesday (8/19) at St. John the Baptist.
Memorial donations may be given to the School District of Glennwood City Scholarship Fund. Donations may be mailed to: Charles W. Rasmussen, 1003 Links Way N, Perham, MN 56573.
