Barbara Russell Obituary
Barbara Jean McClellan Russell, 87, of Gastonia, passed away at Robin Johnson Hospice House on Friday, May 13, 2022. She was born November 10, 1934, in Gaston County, to the late Edwin Lewis McClellan and Ethel May Whitley McClellan.
She is preceded in death by Donald Roy Russell; sister Martha Suttlemyre.
Barbara was a graduate of Bessemer City High School Class of 53’, loved the town of Bessemer City, and all her classmates. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Bessemer City. Barbara served as a judge of elections for the Gaston County Election Board.
Left to cherish her memories are sons, Loren Russell (Stephanie), Len Russell (Traci); daughter, Shannon Massey (David); grandchildren, Alex Russell (Caitlin), Dylan Russell, Shepherd Massey, Zara L Dane Massey; great-grandchild, Waylon Russell.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home on Monday, May 16, 2022.
Barbara’s funeral service will be held 2:00 PM on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Johnston officiating.
Interment will follow at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or to Webb Street School, Gastonia.
