Obituary of Barbara Saelid
Barbara Balbach Saelid passed away Sunday Sept 5th, 2021. Barbara was born Feb 3, 1935 in Portland, OR. She received her BA in Elem Ed from the Univ of Arizona where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She married her high school sweetheart and taught elementary school for a few years before moving to Arcadia, CA. Barbara's passion was in volunteering in the community and bringing joy to all who knew her. Involvement in PTA, Assistance League, Tournament of Roses, Sister City Assoc. and other groups led to her Citizen of the Year award. After her children were out of high school, she worked for World Vision as a customer service supervisor for 10 years and moved to Auburn, WA with that organization. While in Auburn she worked tirelessly to support the Humane Society, the Senior Center as a member of the Wellness Team, the White River Valley Museum, and spent 17 years as volunteer for the Valley Regional Fire Authority, or "her boys" as she liked to refer to them. She was also a member of Cyclamen Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was well loved by all that knew her. She is survived by her children Jeff and Lisa (Heithe), daughter-in-law Michelle and son-in-law Joseph Heithe Jr., and grandchildren Marrissa and Cassidy Green, and Joshua and Abigail Heithe. The celebration of life will be held on October 3, 2021 at 3pm at the Auburn Masonic Temple, 10 Auburn Way S., Auburn, WA 98002. In lieu of flowers, in remembrance of her selfless spirit, we ask that you find a group in your community to volunteer your time to. While donations of money do help, spending time with your neighbors and community help bring everyone together in harmony!
